
North American rail firm CN has introduced an order to boost 60 locomotives via Wabtec Company’s modernisation programme.
The rail operator will see 60 of its licensed pre-owned Sprint-9 locomotives modernised by Wabtec, which can remodel them from DC to AC-powered traction, improve the engines and set up a set of digital upgrades.
The modernisation order is a part of CN’s sustainability targets because it goals to scale back its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 43% per gross tonne mile by 2030, in comparison with 2019 ranges and attain web zero emissions by 2050.
