Kenya: State Eyeing Tax Breaks to Enhance Kenya’s Tea Worth

Nairobi — The federal government is at the moment implementing incentives within the tea subsector to assist worth added initiatives meant to maximise Kenyan tea’s potential on worldwide markets.

Agriculture and Livestock Improvement Cupboard Secretary Mithika Linturi made the announcement yesterday on the Kenya Tea Improvement Company’s (KTDA) annual administrators’ convention in Nairobi.

By means of the Tea Board of Kenya, his ministry has developed an idea notice to encourage tea worth addition by offering tax and different incentives required to make native worth addition extra interesting.

In accordance with the CS, the Nationwide Treasury had authorised the idea notice, opening the door for the implementation of the incentives to permit for larger tea-value additions nationwide.

”Consistent with the current Authorities directives on tea worth addition and manufacturing diversification, my Ministry by means of the Tea Board of Kenya has developed an idea notice to incentivize tea worth addition,” mentioned CS Linturi.

”The idea notice, which has been authorised by the Nationwide Treasury, proposes the institution of a scheme aimed toward unlocking the potential of Kenya tea by offering each tax and different incentives 5 essential to make native worth addition extra enticing.”
