Nigeria: Lagos Points Stern Warning Towards Gross sales of Faux Drinks

The Lagos State authorities has cautioned leisure centres inside the state in opposition to gross sales and distribution of faux drinks.

Mr Idris Aregbe, Particular Adviser (SA) to Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts and Tradition, gave the warning in an announcement issued via his instagram web page #idrisconnectingnigeria#.

Aregbe mentioned this was in response to the rising concern on counterfeit drinks circulating in golf equipment and eating places throughout the state.

In accordance with him, the prevalence of faux drinks poses a major menace to public well being and security, prompting intensified and coordinated efforts by his workplace to eradicate these substandard merchandise from circulation.

“We name upon all golf equipment, eating places and public locations the place drinks are bought to train due diligence in guaranteeing they don’t buy or serve pretend drinks to unsuspecting shoppers,” he mentioned.

Aregbe assured the general public of a complete effort to get rid of pretend drinks from the markets.

He mentioned the state can be collaborating with the Director, Investigation and Enforcement, Nationwide Company for Meals and Drug Administration and Management (NAFDAC), Mr Ononiwu Ezeribe and the Lagos State Security Fee led by Mr Lanre Mojola.

He warned that any leisure venue or gathering discovered serving or promoting pretend drinks will face instant closure, with the suspension of their working license.

He mentioned that stringent measures can be taken to safeguard the well-being of Lagos residents and guests.

He disclosed that the ministry is working with different related companies to make sure full compliance with eradicating pretend drinks.

In accordance with Mojola, this can be a laudable initiative from the SA and a furtherance of the Governor’s dedication to the protection of lives.

“We urge drinks producers to take a proactive function in public enlightenment, guiding shoppers on the right way to establish real merchandise.

“Correct labelling, packaging, and distribution channels must be emphasised to reinforce consciousness and make sure the authenticity of drinks,” he mentioned.
