NFU Cymru council re-elects president and deputy president

NFU Cymru President Aled Jones and NFU Cymru Deputy President Abi Reader have been re-elected to steer the union for an additional two years.

The pair had been re-elected at a gathering of NFU Cymru Council, the union’s ruling physique, in Cardiff this week.

Aled Jones, a Gwynedd farmer who runs a pedigree herd of Holsteins, will stay within the position as president till 2026.

Abi Reader, a dairy farmer close to Cardiff, will stay in her position as deputy president for 2 extra years.

NFU Cymru Director John Mercer welcomed the information: “We’re extremely fortunate to have such a robust nationwide officeholder staff working alongside our county officeholder groups and our skilled NFU Cymru staff of workers.

“With important coverage change on the horizon, risky markets and international political uncertainty… it’s by no means been extra necessary to have a robust staff representing and defending the pursuits of Welsh farmers.

“Many congratulations to all those that have been elected and we stay up for working intently collectively within the coming two years on behalf of Welsh agriculture.”
