Rolling inventory producer Alstom has begun manufacturing on its €124m ($133m) driverless metro practice contract for Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL), the rail supplier in Chennai, India.
The 36 Metropolis trainsets will probably be constructed at Alstom’s manufacturing unit in Sri Metropolis, 75km north of Chennai, on the Japanese coast of the subcontinent.

That is the second contract in India for the French producer, following its profitable supply of 208 metro vehicles for the 54km of the primary section of the Chennai Metro.
