Nigeria: Anyaoku – Present Structure Can not Resolve Nigeria’s Financial Challenges

Former Secretary Basic of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, has stated the present Nigerian Structure wouldn’t adequately handle the nation’s financial predicaments and different myriad of challenges.

Anyaoku acknowledged this yesterday in an interview with the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) in his nation residence, Obosi in Idemili North Native Authorities Space (LGA) of Anambra State.

The previous Commonwealth scribe stated poverty, insecurity, and dilapidated infrastructure, amongst others, have been critical challenges bedevelling the nation.

“I’m on report for saying that these challenges can’t be successfully addressed beneath the structure and governance system now we have in the meanwhile.

“We can’t successfully handle these challenges which have assumed nationwide dimension, particularly insecurity, which has pervaded the northern a part of the nation and different communities,” he stated.

He burdened that the present structure was a departure from the structure that the nation’s founding fathers negotiated and agreed upon.

“The structure for a pluralistic state as Nigeria, now we have to return to these rules of the structure as earlier agreed by our founding fathers.

“Till we try this, I’m afraid that we can’t successfully cope with the challenges dealing with the nation,” he added.

When requested in regards to the Monday sit-at-home noticed within the South-east area and the destructive results on the financial system, the elder statesman stated that the sit-at-home was inflicting nice injury to the financial system of the nation.
